When Faith Feels Far Away

This may be the most honest sentence in the whole of Scripture, and it is a contradiction. I believe. Help my unbelief. A man saying both things in one breath, and meaning both.

And here is what should stop you: Jesus does not correct him. He does not say come back when you are certain. He answers the prayer exactly as it was offered — divided, unfinished, honest.

So the season you are in, where the prayers feel like they hit the ceiling and the faith you had last year seems to belong to someone else — that is not disqualification. Doubt is not the opposite of faith. Indifference is. The fact that its absence hurts you is itself evidence that something real is missing.

Keep showing up while it is dim. Say the honest prayer. God has never once been offended by an honest prayer.
