Strength to Begin Again
“Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22-23
Look at where this sentence sits. The book is called Lamentations. It is a long, unflinching account of a city in ruins, and right in the middle of it — with nothing yet fixed, nothing yet explained — someone writes down that mercy is new every morning.
That is the timing that matters. Not once the rebuilding is finished. In the rubble.
So whatever you are starting again — the habit you have broken a dozen times, the prayer life you let go quiet, the relationship you handled badly — you are not beginning from a deficit. The mercy is not rationed. Yesterday does not come out of today's supply.
Morning came again. That was not an accident, and it was not neutral. It was an invitation. Take it.
A Prayer for Today
Lord, thank You that today is new. I am beginning again. Meet me at the start of it. Amen.
